Random pictures of my bebe in no particular order...:-)
Since all these pics are random, you can't really tell which is his most recent picture but you're welcome to guess...:-). Simon is really growing beautifully, infact I'll say he's surpassed his growth curve. Next week he'll be 5 months old and already weighing in at 16.5lbs (average weight for a six month old baby). Anyways, I thank God everyday for His continuous bounty and blessings. He smiles a lot now especially when he sees me and when I talk to him.....even more after eating however, I have not been able to take a picture of him smiling yet....he has the most beautiful smile ever. He's ONLY drinking from the bottle now since he refused to nurse directly so I've been pumping still.....He's beginning to play with his hands now and loves his bath time!!

Motherhood Journey
His serious face..:-) He looks very contented most of the time and doesn't fuss that much either. Seems like he already knows we've been through alot......lol
Since he was introduced to bottle feeding in the hospital he kinda got used to it and I'm still teaching him how to nurse though he prefers the bottle. So, I have to pump the breast milk EVERYDAY, feed him and freeze the rest since he is not eating that much yet. I wish he'll learn fast so I won't have to pump again!!!
After our kangaroo's session...:-) he loves it!
Simon's first day at home. He was about 5.11 when he was discharged home.
Here, he had been up-graded to the intermediary nursery since he just had to feed and grow. It was a little easier for us to touch and carry him. This was also Clement's last day with us since he had to go back to work. YEAH he finally made it one week after Simon was born..!!
He stayed in this isolete for 30 days to keep him warm since he had not put on his body fats. After the infection was treated, he still had to stay there cuz he had to grow and put on some fat on his bones! So he was getting his nutrition through both IV and feeding tube (breast milk)
He got infected with some bacteria in his blood and had to be on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Other than that he was breathing on his own and getting his feeding through the feeding tube. I was pumping and taking to the hospital everyday.
Simon at 6 days old. He was born weighing 3.11lbs and had to lost 11 oz. He was 29 weeks 6 days old.
I'de like to say this was not an easy pregnancy for me but he was determined to stay:-) My first triamester, I was bleeding and we thought that was it!!! After being on bedrest for 6 weeks, lets just say I was already tired. And I had prepared my mind, soul and spirit for anything to happen. I decided I was going to go on my planned pilgrimage trip to Haifa rather than remain on bedrest and who know, anything can happen with a three months old pregnancy. And so we took off. Clement couldn't stop so he had no choice but to accompany me.....lol. The trip went well and I'll just like to say that I don't think I ever prayed before in my life like I did in this trip for my unborn child. All went well when we came to Kenya. Bleeding stopped, he was growing well, kicking and then the third triamester, I started spotting again. I was again put on bedrest but the doctors couldn't figure out what the problem was or what is causing the bleeding despite numerous check-ups, ultrasounds, etc etc. I finally told Clement that I don't feel comfortable with the medical services in Kisumu and decided to come back to the US.......woman's instincts!!!
Now this was early October and I was due in December. I left Kenya October 13 and got to New Jersey on October 14. The 16 hours trip was not easy. My lower extremities were all swollen and I was bleeding instead of the regular spotting. We decided to go in in the emergency unit for check up since I don't have any doctor here yet. And that was the end of my pregnancy....aka I was bleeding, 4 cm dilated (without knowing and no signs), baby still in breach position and there was no fluid! That was an alarm for an EMERGENCY C-SECTION. And so it was, he was born at 12:44AM October 15. I barely saw him, heard him cry and off he was to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Lets just say I was going with the flow of things and thinking I was in space or something. I finally had the courage to go see him 2 days later and he was this thiny little one hooked up to all this tubes trying to survive. My heart wept for him and I said to myself, "if he's this small and struggling to make, then I should be able to as well. Clement was in europe and couldn't make it right away so it me and my mother to whom I'm very thankful. Infact we continue to thank God everyday for this bounty and blessings!!
